Wireless Infrastructure Group becomes Speed Up Britain’s latest industry supporter
Wireless Infrastructure Group (WIG) has become the latest telecommunications company to join Speed Up Britain’s network of industry supporters.
WIG is a market leading independent wireless infrastructure provider, servicing indoor network facilities, connecting rural communities and enabling mobile technology innovations including 5G. Through its indoor network facilities alone, WIG provides services for venues that normally host over 1.25 billion visitors each year combined.
Rt Hon Patricia Hewitt, Chair of Speed Up Britain, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Wireless Infrastructure Group to Speed Up Britain, and look forward to working closely together in our efforts to secure reforms to the Electronic Communications Code. WIG’s support provides further evidence of the industry’s unanimous view that changes to the Code are urgently required, and we hope to see the publication of the Government’s consultation on these issues very shortly.”
Scott Coates, CEO Wireless Infrastructure Group, said:
“Wireless Infrastructure Group is pleased to be working with our customers and fellow tower companies in Speed Up Britain. This initiative seeks a clearer set of rules for the application of the Code, and we see this as an important step in moving towards a market where consensual deals are the norm and these rules are used as a last resort. Telecoms is a competitive and dynamic sector with networks that are continually evolving and we firmly believe that speeding up deployment will ultimately come down to handshakes rather than court cases”
